ANNOUNCEMENT: 50 States Posting

Ballyhoo Stories is pleased to announce the publication of our newest 50 States stories. For Ohio we have a story by Sean Beaudoin entitled "Coldwater, Ohio. Sandra Maddux-Creech's story, "Night Crew," is our New Hampshire story. Mary McLaughlin Slectha's "My Good Name," is our Connecticut story. You can read them all at www.ballyhoostories.com.

We are currently looking for stories or essays set in or about the states of California, Delaware, Indiana, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, New Jersey, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Texas, Washington, and Wisconsin. Our full submission guidelines our on the site.

ANNOUNCEMENT: Congratulations to Lara Tupper

We would like to congratulate Lara Tupper, whose book A Thousand and One Nights was accepted for publication by Harcourt for Fall 2006. Lara's story "Belly Dancing," about an American lounge singer in Dubai, was published in Ballyhoo Stories Volume 1 Number 2, "Songs and Cacophony." Click here to subscribe.

REPORT: The Legion of Lit Mags

We would like to thank everyone who attended the Legion of Lit Mags reading on November 19. The event was an incredible success. The crowd was overwhelmingly large, yet everyone was incredibly attentive to our readers. The audience's support of the magazines involved was astounding and helps ensure that each and everyone of us is able to continue to support the work of literary writers.

EVENT: The Legion of Lit Mags

The Legion of Lit Mags bookfair is almost here. Here is the rundown:

On November 19, the Legion of Lit Mags host author readings and a meet and greet with editors at Galapagos from 5 to 10 pm. Snag free and discounted magazine subscriptions; enter to win fabulous raffle prizes, which include theater tickets, spa giveaways, and dining in a variety of New York City's exclusive eateries.

The readers are as follows:

6-6:40 pm: Darin Strauss, Lisa Selin Davis, Lynne Tillman
7-7:40 pm: Amy Brill, David Gates, Brenda Shaughnessy
8-8:30 pm: Sam Lipsyte, Andy Friedman

EVENT: November 10, KGB Reading

Just a final reminder that on November 10 at 7 p.m., we will celebrate the release of Ballyhoo Stories Volume 1 Number 2, "Songs and Cacophony," with a reading at the KGB Bar in New York City. Contributors Bill Cheng and Lara Tupper will read from their stories. Also, 50 States contributor, Sue O'Doherty, will also read from her New York story, "Passing." Our reading for "Portraits and Snapshots" was an excellent time. We hope you all will join us.
